The good, The bad, and the ugly

I think good people do bad things because no one is perfect. People get tempted to do bad things because of peer pressure and envy. One person I know, was my best friend, made a bad decision by stealing. Some kids just want attention so they do something that is abnormal or different than what they usually do. My friends and I don't want to be in a bad situation so we don't hang out with him anymore. Now he is just another kid at my high school. He started hanging out with the "Cool Kids" and didn't really pay attention to his other friends. He has fallen out of favor with the kids that were always nice to him. Every day he and I and some other kids would try to go somewhere but not anymore, it's almost like we try to avoid each other. It's unfortunate that people make poor decisions and do bad things.

Summer Reading

For my summer reading I read a book by Michael Dantonio called Tin Cup Dreams and a book called Into Thin Air by John Krakauer.

The book by Michael Dantonio was a very good book and it is about one of my dad's friends,Esteban Toledo. He was born in a small, poor town in Mexico where he had a tough life. He grew up in a home across from the Mexicali Country Club. He would swim across the river every day to get to the Club. He learned to play with found clubs that were too big or too small for him. He moved to the U.S with a friend of his mothers and started playing in tournaments as soon as he arrived. He finally made enough money to earn his PGA Tour playing card.  Unfortunately he lost his card but was able to regain it later in life. It is a very good book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes sports or biographies. I admire his courage and dedication to the game.

Into Thin Air is an exciting and dramatic true story about a journalist who traveled to the summit of Mt. Everest. It tells the story of all the people he met and the many life changing events that took place. The story is his day to day journal about the struggles and highlights of attempting such an amazing goal. I cheered for those who made it to the summit and I was saddened for those who never achieved their dream. It was a very good book and  I would recommend it to everyone.
