For my summer reading I read a book by Michael Dantonio called Tin Cup Dreams and a book called Into Thin Air by John Krakauer.
The book by Michael Dantonio was a very good book and it is about one of my dad's friends,Esteban Toledo. He was born in a small, poor town in Mexico where he had a tough life. He grew up in a home across from the Mexicali Country Club. He would swim across the river every day to get to the Club. He learned to play with found clubs that were too big or too small for him. He moved to the U.S with a friend of his mothers and started playing in tournaments as soon as he arrived. He finally made enough money to earn his PGA Tour playing card. Unfortunately he lost his card but was able to regain it later in life. It is a very good book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes sports or biographies. I admire his courage and dedication to the game.
Into Thin Air is an exciting and dramatic true story about a journalist who traveled to the summit of Mt. Everest. It tells the story of all the people he met and the many life changing events that took place. The story is his day to day journal about the struggles and highlights of attempting such an amazing goal. I cheered for those who made it to the summit and I was saddened for those who never achieved their dream. It was a very good book and I would recommend it to everyone.
